Brooklyn Museum
My Third-Year placement was at the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, NY, under the supervision of Associate Paintings Conservator Lauren Bradley (WUDPAC ‘11) and Assistant Paintings Conservator Ellen Nigro (WUDPAC ‘18). The majority of my time at the Brooklyn Museum was spent working on treatments for a major re-installation of the American Galleries. This project was a huge undertaking, where the entire fifth floor is set to be rehung. While some of the more popular paintings on display will be included in the reimagined galleries, there are many projects that will come out of storage. My projects were highly varied and cover mechanical and aqueous cleaning, varnish removal and application, inpainting, frame modifications, complex backing board attachment, and structural work. Pictured below are select treatment projects, some of which are grouped by theme to highlight specific skills, click on the images for more information. Preventive projects are also linked below. All conservation photography was done as a team and the workload shared between Lauren Bradley, Ellen Nigro, Camille Ferrer and myself.
